POOR SANITATION IN LL MARKETS

Business adminstration students at exploits university visited Lilongwe Tsoka market as part of their research project program.

The final year students main objective to the market were to bring back citizen ownership, not to leave everything to the government,stakeholders awareness on poor sanitation and environmental health to bring attention to government that it should address the sanitation problem inoder for Malawi to attract investors and tourists.

Among other things the students had face to fqace interview with vendors and customers and the mayor of the Lilongwe city and also the ministry of industry,trade and tourism.

Vendors in the market use dilapidated toilets and the bushes to relieve theselves.  The vendors said they are exposed to different diseases such as Cholera and Dysentry as well as Diarrhoea.

In an interview the students had with the mayor of Liolongwe city Mr Bikoko, the mayor did agree that the situation pertaining to santation in the city is pathetic for the vendors as well as individuals.

The leader of the group said it is recommende for both government and citizens need to work hand in hand    to change theb situation to ensure that the SDGs are implemented and more investors are attracted in Malawi
